A brand zone at a picnic is a different job than a showroom or a stage. The cars stand among guests, the light changes throughout the day, and the material later has to show one thing: that the brand’s presence at the event made sense.

In late May I photographed the Lexus zone at Lazy Sunday, a picnic in the courtyard and garden of the palace on Foksal Street in Warsaw, the seat of SARP. Lazy Sunday took place the day after the TOP CHARITY Auction 2026 gala. I did not photograph the gala itself; my brief was the brand zone.

What the zone looked like

In front of the entrance stood two copper-coloured Lexuses, the RZ and the RX, arranged symmetrically by the event pylons. This is the material a brand takes first: cars, event branding and a prestigious venue in one frame. Then there are the display details, from the front of the RX against the pylons to a green RX with a floral decoration on the lawn.

The most interesting part of the zone stood in the garden. A white Lexus with a sign reading “PAINT ME :)” and a basket of markers. The children took the invitation seriously. After a few hours the bodywork was covered in koi fish, hearts, signatures and a review reading “Lexus The Best :)” on the window trim.

Around the car, the zone was in action all day: guests, an entertainer in a lion mask, deckchairs, balloons. At an event like this, stiff packshots make no sense. What counts is reportage, a documentary style that shows the cars in the context of people and place, not just polished bodywork.

What I watch for at a brand zone

The car needs to appear in scenes with people, not only in separate detail shots. The brand gets proof that its zone was alive, not standing empty next to the event.

At an event with children, selection starts in the frame itself. Hands holding markers, silhouettes from behind, shots taken from a distance. The material shows the action around the car, not the children’s faces, so it can be published without risk.

Details round off the story. The painted bonnet, the Lexus logo surrounded by hearts, or the marker note on the window trim are frames that sum up the whole day at the zone in a single image.

Result

Lexus Polska published a post about the event on LinkedIn. The shoot produced material for brand communication: the display, branding, guests at the zone and the result of the car-painting activity.
