In 2018, a temporary art gallery called “Temporary” opened in Business Garden Warsaw to underline its transience. During its duration, many artists had the opportunity to prepare their works. I had the opportunity to photograph the opening of the gallery on the very first day of its operation.

The opening of the gallery featured an exhibition called ABSTRAKCJA presented by two artists Magda Fokt and Joanna Pongowska. The event was accompanied by an equally interesting duo of a DJ and a trumpeter. The event was very intimate, with waiters serving refreshments and guests enjoying champagne. Such a form allowed to admire the works in an undisturbed way, and at the same time establish an interesting dialogue with the artists themselves, who willingly took part in discussions with the guests of the exhibition. The photo report of the opening of the art gallery that I prepared could be used to present the space and promote future events there.

As event photographer I have to contend with various challenges during events, usually limited space and freedom of movement. While doing a photo shoot of the opening of the “Temporary” art gallery, I felt like a fish in water. A large, but not huge space where I had a good view of everything and could not photograph quietly from every perspective. When I had an interesting frame in sight, I didn’t have to run and thus disrupt the event. I had everything at my fingertips, at the same time I didn’t have to squeeze through the crowds.
Clean staff
Also, a well-designed space with no clutter in the frame allows for very clean frames, which are hard to create in a wide shot, because something undesirable will be found. This time was different and I could afford more wide shots, bases of clutter in the frame.
