While working with the Vistula Stop in Warsaw – a venue that allows you to organize any kind of private party, but outside your home – I had the opportunity to photograph various themed events. The party I photographed here revolved heavily around cycling, of which Daniel – the birthday boy – is a big fan. Therefore, all the presents were related to fun and extreme emotions.

Photo-reportage of a birthday party, is often the idea of the guests themselves, who in this way, want to make a joint gift for the birthday boy or girl. In this way, the birthday boy doesn’t have to bother with figuring out the details, and all the participants have a super souvenir. This time the idea to call on me as a birthday photographer came from Daniel’s wife, who celebrated his equal 40th birthday, but in spirit and form he was closer to his 20s.
Birthday gift idea for a cyclist
One of the interesting ideas the guests came up with was to prepare 40 different gifts for the birthday boy. Theirs were fewer, but they made it so that the quantity was just right and there were lots of surprises to unwrap, from tiny packages to something really big.
Unusual gifts for birthdays
Not all of the gifts were bike-related, of course, because there’s nothing to limit yourself. Colleagues knew that Daniel likes adrenaline, so they served him some gifts like a monster truck ride or a glider flight. By the way, there were also cycling-specific gifts like designer socks, a compass bracelet and a cap.
Personalized birthday gifts
I terribly liked the specially made skateboard with his nickname on the top of the board and the board game he loved, which he didn’t have in his board collection yet. Such thoughtful gifts are the best. Although the biggest hit was the 40 limit sign, which is a beautiful metaphor for being forever young in spirit.
Fortunately, there were no gifts in the style – photographer’s birthday – a cheesy mug in the shape of a lens. That’s the praise!
